When does my cardlock rate get set, and when do I find out?

Accepted Answer

Our cardlocks use a posted day rate — the rate you fuelled at is the rate that lands on your invoice. Whatever pricing structure your account is on — a locked rate, a rack-plus formula, or off the posted price — that’s set once with the fleet manager, so the driver doesn’t need to think about it at the pump. Statements come on a predictable cycle; the rep is the same person every time.

Will my winter diesel gel in a Waterloo polar-vortex week?

Accepted Answer

Our winter blend covers a normal January in southwestern Ontario, where the daily mean sits around minus twelve. It doesn’t, on its own, cover a polar-vortex night where Waterloo or London bottoms out below minus thirty. Once the calendar is past Halloween, we dose every delivery with cold-flow improver at the truck — and if your equipment yards out in the open through a cold snap, we add an anti-gel program on top of the treated blend.

Do I need a separate DEF tank, or can I fill from jugs?

Accepted Answer

For a small fleet running a handful of newer trucks, jug fills off the cardlock are usually enough. Once drivers are stopping to top up DEF mid-shift, it’s time for a 1,000 L tote in the yard with a stainless or DEF-rated pump. Storage materials matter — galvanized, copper, brass, and zinc contaminate the fluid and trigger an SCR derate. We supply Air1 DEF, API-certified to ISO 22241.

Can I run coloured diesel in my service truck or van?

Accepted Answer

No. A licensed vehicle of any kind — service van, half-ton, farm-plated pickup — runs on clear diesel only. Ontario’s coloured-fuel rule prohibits dyed diesel in any vehicle that carries a plate, regardless of how it’s used. Yard equipment that never sees the road can take coloured; anything with a plate cannot.

Which DURON engine oil does my Volvo or Mack actually need?

Accepted Answer

For Volvo VDS-4.5 or Mack EOS-4.5 engines — most of the trucks built between 2017 and 2022 — DURON HP or DURON SHP in 15W-40 or 10W-30 is the right line, API CK-4. For newer FA-4 engines (Volvo VDS-5 and Mack EOS-5, approved late 2025) it’s DURON Advanced 5W-30, and FA-4 isn’t backward-compatible. Volvo I-Shift and Mack mDrive automated manuals run TRAXON Synthetic MTF, not generic ATF. The rep pulls the OEM approval letter for your build before we quote.
